Understanding How Armour Tyre Sealant Prevents Punctures

Have you ever wondered how Armour Tyre Sealant is installed and how it effectively stops punctures in their tracks? In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the process and explain the science behind our innovative product.

Installation Made Easy

Before we delve into the technical details, let’s start with the basics. Installing Armour Tyre Sealant is a straightforward process that anyone can handle. Here are the steps:

Valve Positioning: While the wheel is still on the vehicle, position the valve anywhere except at the bottom of the tyre.

Valve Core Removal: Remove the valve cap and unscrew the inner valve core using the valve tool remover provided with every purchase.

Be aware that the deflating air might shoot the valve core out rapidly, so keep a tight hold on it.

Deflation: Safely store the inner valve core and allow the tyre to deflate.

Applicator Attachment: Attach the supplied applicator pipe to the bottle, and the other end to the valve. When attaching it to the valve, it’s recommended to screw it onto the valve.

Sealant Dispensing: Squeeze in the desired amount, guided by the measurements on the bottle label.

Cleanup: Wipe away any spillage, then screw the inner valve core back into the valve and gently tighten.

Reinflation: Reinflate the tyre to the manufacturer’s specifications.

It’s a quick and easy process, taking just a couple of minutes per tyre. Plus, we provide an Armour Sealant Tyre Chart to help you determine the right amount of sealant for different tyre sizes.

How It Works

Once our sealant is installed and the tyre is reinflated, it’s ready to perform its magic. As the tyre rotates, the sealant spreads around the inside of the tyre, ready to seal any holes where air pressure is escaping.

The key component of our sealant is a suspension liquid, classified as a food-safe ingredient, which carries the fibers and filler particles to the source of escaping air pressure.

The backbone of the tyre sealant is formed by fibers, and we use the strongest ones: Aramid Fibers. These fibers, known for their exceptional strength (five times stronger than steel), come in varying lengths and degrees of branching, ensuring quick hole sealing.

After forming a strong plug with the fibers, the final seal is provided by filler particles and microgranules. These particles lodge between the fibers, creating an airtight and permanent seal.

Think of it like a beaver dam, where the fibers are the sticks and logs, and the fillers are the mud and stones that hold everything together.

Impressive Performance

Armour Tyre Sealant can permanently plug holes up to 15mm in size, equivalent to the size of a 10c coin. But that’s not all; our industrial product can seal holes up to 30mm in size, which is larger than a R5 coin!

One of the standout features of Armour Tyre Sealant is its high-performance formula that doesn’t separate or harden, ensuring protection for the legal life of the tyre.
